MY LATEST DESIGN: FELTED HANDBAG

Since I still can’t knit very much, I decided to explore creativity in a different way. Here are photos and a description of how I made this handbag.
It’s relaxing, fun, therapeutic, and even meditative to let your imagination run wild…

PAYING ATTENTION TO WHAT YOU PROBABLY KNOW ANYWAY
It’s been one month since I’ve had to stop knitting because of over-doing by continuing to knit too much without listening to my painful thumb joints when they were shouting out in pain. The joints were stiff, sore, and swollen.
I’ve since been to two physical therapy sessions, and am 75 percent better…thankfully.
This reminded me of what I already knew but ignored. Pay attention to your body and mind. Don’t push through pain. Honor and respect your body. Don’t take it for granted. Be grateful for when both body and mind are in a state of well-being and balance.

IF YOU CAN’T KNIT, DESIGN
I’m taking a break from knitting because of such sore thumb joints. Since I can’t knit now, it gives me an opportunity to create my own designs. Here is my first:

KNITTING AND YOGA
Why am I posting my knitted projects on a yoga website? Because I am finding that knitting can be so meditative and also provides good lessons for life. It can be “yogic,” in a sense.
The birth of my grandson, Max, 2.5 yrs. ago and Zoe, born just four days ago, has inspired me on to a knitting craze.
Knitting fills me with love and delight as I think of the tiny recipients of my creations.
Knitting has taught me that when I make mistakes, I accept them, learn from them, search for imaginative ways to fix them, move on, and most important, ENJOY!
Next week, I will see Zoe for the first time, and this is what I made for her.
